Vancouver Island Photo of the Day: Nanaimo River Estuary

Thanks to Matt Munroe for this stunning morning shot of the Nanaimo Estuary , which is the LARGEST estuary on Vancouver Island.

The first known inhabitants were the Snuneymuxw First Nation (SEN or Snuneymuxw), to whom the Nanaimo River estuary is still an important spiritual and traditional use area.
