2 Chefs Affair (Nanaimo)

If you follow the blog, you know I love a good solid breakfast. Best meal of the day in my humble opinion! I do love a great eggs benny. Quite possibly my favourite breakfast dish. I have tried the eggs benny at Atlas Cafe and Willie's Cafe among others.

2 Chefs Affair has been on my radar for quite sometime now, a handful of people have recommended I try their amazing eggs benny with their unbelievably delicious house made hollandaise sauce. I finally made it to Daniel and Tammy's wonderful little food joint on Commercial Street in Nanaimo.

We arrived later than usual for breakfast (trying to avoid the busy breakfast rush) and it was perfect timing since there were a few empty tables in the warm inviting space. With high ceilings and local art, the room feels cozy yet hip. We all ordered a round of coffee and it was a delicious medium roast. I checked out the menu, spotting lots of things I'd like to try - but I had already made my mind up before arriving that I would be indulging in the 2 Chefs Famous Egg Benedict ($10) which was served with a light hash brown patty and what appeared to be home made ketchup on the side. The hollandaise was light and lemony - not overly rich. If you dig a more lemon flavoured hollandaise you will LOVE this. I would definitely go back for this benny.

The Love At First Bite ($9) is their unreal French Toast. This is made up of rich egg bread, pumpkin, cinnamon and vanilla flavour served with blueberries and sweet cream cheese. Served up with real maple syrup from Quebec! Although I am not a French Toast fan myself, I tried a couple bites of this and it was amazing! The cream cheese was the "icing on the cake"!
